Review: Dragis the Invincible Man #1

Dragis the Invincible Man #1 cover

I took my first step into the world of comic book criticism and critique this week with my review of Dragis the Invincible #1. This is one of my favorite comic book discoveries in the last several years, originally picking it up at the Baltimore Comic-Con back in 2014. Since then, the creator Jim Bell has released a second issue of Dragis along with issues of other spin-off series. I’m super excited to see what comes next. My only regret is that I probably won’t be able to pick up any future issues in person, since I’m not on the east coast anymore.

I hope this review encourages everyone to go to the Dragis Comics website and buy some copies! Enjoy!

Grand Reopening of my Online Store

This is my second big announcement of the week. There’s one more coming tomorrow, but it’s not tomorrow yet so let’s just focus on today’s announcement.

The New Naked Grape Comics Store

Just in time for the release of my new book Poop Office collection Tales from an Office Staffed by Poop, I completely reworked my store page! All the great Poop Office merchandise is available direct from me! Except tote bags, which are out-of-stock. I’m working on finding a new supplier after my last tote bag source dried up. I would’ve done this sooner, but I didn’t have a job after moving across the country. Now I finally do have a job, so I just need to get my shit together and find a new vendor and order more bags! But there’s other non-tote-bag stuff, including…

New T-Shirts! I have new T-shirts available in a bunch of new colors. These are online exclusives, so you won’t find them at any of my convention appearances. I did my best to keep the prices as low as I could while still making sure the shirts were good quality. I think these are better than the shirts I had been selling at conventions (at really low prices), so these new ones are probably worth a few extra dollars.

It’s surprisingly easy to add new T-shirts to this new online storefront, so you’ll probably see some new designs pooping up in the next few months.

Anyway, I worked really hard getting this new store looking and working just right, so I hope you all like it. To check it out, either click on the Store link above or go to

What’s that? You think online retailers are too convenient? You’d like to buy something from me in-person inside some sort of building made out of brick and mortar? I just might have the solution for you, but it’ll have to wait until… tomorrow…

Big Announcement – Bowel Movement Movement

Normally Poop Office makes an appearance in Baltimore Comic-Con‘s Artist Alley, but it was mysteriously absent this past September. What’s going on?!

Well, to put it simply, I moved from the DC/Baltimore area way out to Southern California! With all the stress and commotion of the move, there just wasn’t time to plan for the con this year.

Poop Office Bowel Movement Movement

Poop Office is on the move!

Now that the poops and I are settled in this crazy new state, I have tons of stuff in the works for Poop Office. Here are some highlights:

  • For those still back in Maryland, Poop Office will be attending the Baltimore Comic-Con in 2017. We love that show so much, all the poops are going to pack into an airplane and fly out!
  • For those on the west coast, I’m looking into reserving tables at conventions in the area. So if you ever find yourself in Long Beach, AnaheimSan Jose, San Diego, or maybe even Portland and Seattle, you just might run into some poop in 2017 or 2018. I’ll put updates here and on my social media pages as plans firm up.
  • With six issues of Poop Office out, I am hard at work on the Poop Office collected edition! It’s currently planned to be about 200 pages with tons of extras and bonus content including some Poop Office comics that never appeared online or in any of the comic book issues. I’m hoping to have it all done and for sale at 2017’s Baltimore Comic-Con. And like the comic book issues, the print edition will be in beautiful black & white while the digital version will be in full color.
  • In addition to all that, I have several (early) plans for more comics and related merchandise in the Poop Office universe, but it’s too early to talk about all that.

If any of you are on the west coast and know of some great shows that would be a good fit for Poop Office, please contact me by email or Twitter and let me know!

Want to know about an easter egg in the image above that only I care about? I spent about three months in 2015 fixing up the homemade font I use for all my comics, and this is the first chance I’ve gotten to use it! Notice how much cleaner and fancier it looks than the old ugly font used in all my other comics? Probably not. But I do!!

Conventions Aftermath!

It took me a week to recover from this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con and Small Press Expo. They were a ton of fun, and I want to thank everyone I got to meet over those two weekends!

Here are my favorite lines overheard at my table:

  • Daddy, I need to go potty!
  • It’s really come down to this, eh?
  • I am so confused!
  • Did you make this? You are a beautiful person!
  • I love poop!
  • Ah, this is messed up.
  • It’s like my daily life.
  • If someone’s gonna invest time into drawing a poop comic…
  • I love the originality.
  • Eww! That’s gross!
  • That is, like, the best idea ever!
  • Poop is a bad word.
  • This looks very silly.
  • That is the most adorable hunk of shit I’ve ever seen.
  • Delightfully low brow. My favorite!
  • I don’t know if I have the stomach for it. I hadn’t thought my sensibilities were that delicate.
  • [To his friend] Oh, is that the thing you were talking about?
  • I don’t think my wife’s gonna let me put that [poop plush doll] on the couch.
  • You guys are so inappropriate.
  • Have a poopy day. For you that’s a good thing.
  • I want to be mature and say I don’t like this.
  • You young people have a sick sense of humor.
  • This is my favorite thing here.
